Employee Spotlight: Charlie Cruz

Volusion is what it is because of the people who work within its four walls. So we thought we’d tell you more about some of those people. What makes them tick? Why do they come to work each day? And what do they look forward to doing when they leave the office? In this Employee Spotlight series you’ll get a glimpse at one featured employee each month. This month we talked to Charlie Cruz, who is our Senior Marketing Advisor.

What do you do here at Volusion?

I'm Volusion's Senior Marketing Advisor. This means I help Volusion merchants generate better sales conversations and increase brand awareness through digital marketing and advertising strategies.

How did you get into the field?

I've been at Volusion for over five years; I was promoted to my current position after working in the Design Sales department.

What’s the most challenging thing about your job?

Identifying which marketing strategies will help Volusion merchants meet their goals. It often takes time, but the end results are worth it.

What are you most proud of in your career? What about outside of your career?

I'm most proud of the year-over-year growth in my career since I started working at Volusion. Outside of work, I'm most proud of becoming a first-time homeowner!

What do you love most about Volusion?

I love the culture and the employees.

What’s the first thing you do when you get off work?

After work, I take Mr. Rupert (my dog) for a walk at the trails behind my neighborhood.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time, I play in five different bands: El Campo, High Church, Gentlemen Rogues, Act Rights and the Texases. I also play in the occasional basketball league.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done?

When I was 13, I jumped off a roof onto a trampoline and then back flipped into a pool. Suprisingly, I emerged unscathed!

Where are you going on your next vacation?

I plan on visiting Portland in the winter! I'm excited to explore all the cool hiking spots and meet people there.

If you could open an online store, what would you sell?

If I could open an online store, I would sell mid-century transistor/CB Radios. They're easy to fix...and they look super cool.
