At Volusion, we love to hear from our ecommerce merchants. Whether they're telling us stories of their success, giving us feedback or just letting us know more about what they do, we're always happy to sit down and talk with the people who inspire us. We invited Laura Brown from Austin City Gift Baskets to come speak at our last All Hands meeting. From how she got started to how she runs things now, Brown gave us plenty of insight into the workings of her business. Watch the video below and learn more.
I’m the web designer, the social media girl and I do all of the photography.
Brown, whose store expanded into a brick and mortar operation this year, has a lot of solid advice for aspiring entrepreneurs. “We've really tried to grow organically,” she says. “Everything is mostly repeat business and word of mouth for us. I don’t want to grow faster than we should. A lot of small businesses fail because they grow too fast.” She also tries to keep all operations local and sustainable.

We love how Brown started in her dining room with "nothing but an idea" and has found success in doing what she loves. Keep it up, and happy selling!
